César 1976

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 1976 Césars Ceremony , which was the first Césars to be awarded, took place on April 3, 1976 in the Palais des congrès de Paris . The president of the awards ceremony was the actor Jean Gabin , who died six months later. The ceremony, hosted by Pierre Tchernia , was broadcast by the public television channel Antenne 2, today France 2 .

The two big favorites of the awards were Bertrand Tavernier's historical film When the Festival Begins ... and Robert Enrico's war drama The Old Rifle , which eventually won the César for Best Picture. With a total of nine nominations, the film was awarded in two other categories, for example for best film music and best leading actor, as Philippe Noiret was able to prevail against Gérard Depardieu in Quartet Bestial , among others . When the festival begins ... won seven nominations in the categories of Best Screenplay, Best Production Design, Best Supporting Actor and Best Director. Director Tavernier suggested Robert Enrico, Jean-Paul Rappeneau and François Truffaut . Best leading actress was Romy Schneider for her role in the film drama Nachtblende . Isabelle Adjani , Catherine Deneuve and Delphine Seyrig were also nominated in this category . Rappeneau's comedy Die Schöne Wilden came away empty-handed with four nominations, as did Truffaut's Die Geschichte der Adèle H. with three nominations.
