The seventh Césars award ceremony took place on February 27, 1982 in the Salle Pleyel concert hall in Paris . Director and actor Orson Welles was president of the awards ceremony . The award ceremony, moderated by Pierre Tchernia , Jacques Martin , Jean-Pierre Aumont and Thierry Le Luron , was broadcast by the public television channel Antenne 2, today France 2 .

Jean-Jacques Annauds In the Beginning was the Fire won six nominations in the categories of Best Film and Best Director. However, most of the trophies went to the makers of Das Verhör , who were able to hold their own against the competition with eight nominations in four categories. In the Best Actress category, Isabelle Adjani won her first César for her role in Possession , leaving co-nominees Fanny Ardant , Catherine Deneuve and Isabelle Huppert behind. The big loser of the evening was Bertrand Tavernier's crime comedy Der Saustall , which came out empty with a total of nine nominations.
