Philippe Sarde

Philippe Sarde (born June 21, 1945 in Neuilly-sur-Seine ) is a French film composer who, along with Georges Delerue, is one of the busiest and most renowned representatives of his field in his home country .

Life

Against the wishes of the producers, director Claude Sautet got the young composer Sarde to write the music for the film The Things of Life . Since then he has contributed the music for more than 200 films, such as For The Beginning Was The Fire (1981) by director Jean-Jacques Annaud and for numerous films by Claude Sautet and Bertrand Tavernier . In 1993 Sarde wrote the score for André Téchiné's family drama My Favorite Season with Catherine Deneuve and Daniel Auteuil .

For the film Tess by Roman Polański , he received an Oscar nomination in the category Best Film Music in 1981 . In 1986 he was nominated for a Genie Award for best music in the film Eine Liebe in Montreal ( Joshua Then and Now ) .

Philippe Sarde is the brother of the film producer Alain Sarde .
