A Clumsy Going Astray is a French comedy film by Georges Lautner from 1976.

action

Advertising photographer François Perrin wrote the script for the depth psychological feature film Der Seelenspiegel des Menschen (People 's Soul) with his friend, the pasta factory worker Mercier . You offer the book to producer Bob Morlock, who would only accept it with heavy edits - Morlock is known for his porn films . Mercier is against changing the script. However, since François is determined to gain a foothold in the film business and the script was rejected by all other producers, he agrees to a fraud: Before Mercier, he claims that Morlock would produce the film as proposed. Mercier then signs a declaration of consent. Morlock, in turn, hands the book over to Ploumenech, who turns it into a pornographic film. This is now called The Vaginale . François' friend Christine is appalled by her boyfriend, who loves him precisely because of his subtle relationship with women, and moves out of the shared apartment. François is all the more surprised when he meets Christine again shortly afterwards during the casting for Die Vaginale. He tries to prevent her audition, but Christine hits him at his own gun. She is hired as the leading actress for the film. François, on the other hand, casts an unattractive man in the male lead, but Morlock replaces him with the attractive Aldo.

Mercier has meanwhile been able to persuade his superiors, the Ferroni couple, to make their villa in Saint Tropez available for the filming . He assumes that the human soul mirror will be made into a film and even promises his shy lover and Ferroni daughter Claude a small supporting role, which, however, has taken on extremely perverse traits in the new script. When François learns of this, he confesses the truth to Mercier. He wants to cancel the shoot. Both went to Morlock, who in that case would receive compensation of four million francs from them. But he agrees to swap Christine for the experienced Mona Duroc and to take the previously elected Jules Slimane instead of Aldo. François and Mercier cannot organize a replacement villa, which he would also accept, so they travel to Saint Tropez. At first, there is confusion because Claude goes to the set unnoticed and wants to play her rehearsed role, but is surprised by the naked Jules Slimane. Later, the mistress of the house, Madame Ferroni, appears and Morlock can make the new film project attractive to her by letting her share in the profit and use cooked noodles in a scene that is effective for advertising.

Christine appears on the set even though François wanted her to return to Paris after her cast . She tells François that she is waiting for him at the train station and gives him the keys to her car. She is hiding in the car. François realizes that he actually belongs by her side and is no good as a film director. He drives away, but is so frightened by Christine's appearance in the car that he steers the car into the swimming pool of Madame Ferroni's house. Here he and Christine start kissing in the car and underwater, and the crew members diving to the car are intrigued by the fact that they both keep their clothes on.

criticism

The lexicon of international films found that a dodger on the wrong track had "a few accurate swipes" at the porn industry, but "not very convincing, because he too often strings together well-known clichés."
