Alain Poiré

Alain Poiré (born February 13, 1917 in Paris , † January 15, 2000 in Neuilly-sur-Seine ) was a French film producer.

Life

Alain Poiré was born in Paris on February 13, 1917. After completing his law degree, he worked for Agence Havas from 1936 to 1938 . He then headed a theater for four years and from 1943 headed the Compagnie Parisienne de Location de Films as its director for five years . He then became head of the film department at Gaumont and from 1961 director at Gaumont International . Numerous successful films were produced under his direction, in which many of the most famous French actors such as Louis de Funès , Yves Montand , Gérard Depardieu , Jean Gabin , Alain Delon , Lino Ventura and Sophie Marceau appeared. In his more than 50 years of working as a producer, he was involved in the realization of 140 film projects.

His son, Jean-Marie Poiré (* 1945), is also active in the film industry as a director, screenwriter and producer.
