César 1979
The fourth award of the Césars took place on February 3, 1979 in the Salle Pleyel concert hall in Paris . Actor and director Charles Vanel was president of the awards ceremony . The award ceremony, which was moderated by Pierre Tchernia , Francis Huster , Jean Poiret and Jean-Claude Brialy , was broadcast by the public television channel Antenne 2, today France 2 .
Nominated in five categories, Christian de Chalonges' drama The Money of Others won out against the competition as Best Film and in the Best Director category. However, the majority of the nominations, ten in all, had Claude Sautet's drama A Simple Story . But only Romy Schneider won the César for best actress for the film. Anouk Aimée , Annie Girardot and Isabelle Huppert were also nominated in this category . Michel Serrault was nominated for both Best Supporting Actor for The Money of Others and Best Actor for the comedy A Cage Full of Fools , for which he ultimately received the award.
