Christian de Chalonge
Christian de Chalonge (born January 21, 1937 in Douai , Département Nord ) is a French film director and screenwriter . His film The Money of Others was nominated for five Césars in 1979 and awarded in the categories of Best Film and Best Director .
Life
After his training at the Institut des hautes études cinématographiques (IDHEC), de Chalonge initially worked as an assistant for directors such as Henri-Georges Clouzot , Alain Jessua , Georges Franju and Tony Richardson .
In 1967 he directed his first own feature film The Jump , for which he had also written the script. In his second film An Animal Connection , he was able to work with actors such as Anna Karina , Jean-Pierre Darras and Zilla Chelton in 1971 .
His drama The Money of Others, with Jean-Louis Trintignant and Catherine Deneuve in the leading roles, was nominated for five Césars in 1979 and received, among other things, Best Picture .
In 1981 the end-time film Malevil was made based on the literary model of the same name by Robert Merle . The following year a decision was made at Cape Horn based on the true life story of Donald Crowhurst . In 1990, he filmed with Michel Serrault the history of French serial killer Dr. Petiot .
His last feature films were made with Der Schöne Sommer (1996) and Le comédien (1997). Then de Chalonge turned increasingly to television and staged, among other things, several episodes of the television series about the detective Maigret .
