Pierre Charles Eugène Lenoir (born May 22, 1879 in Paris , France , † September 9, 1953 there ) was a French sculptor and medalist .

Pierre Lenoir was the son of the sculptor Charles Joseph Lenoir , from whom he received his first lessons in sculpture. He was also a student of the medalist Jules Chaplain and the sculptor and painter Antonin Mercié . He was among the group of Breton sculptors born in the 1880s such as Jean Boucher , Louis-Henri Nicot , Émile-Jean Armel-Beaufils , Paul Le Goff , Eloi Robert , Albert Bourget and Francis Renaud who worked together at the École des beaux- studied arts in Rennes . After his training there, he studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Lenoir was known for his medals, plaques and busts in the Art Deco style, as well as his memorials to the fallen of the First World War , in which he had participated as a soldier and received the Croix de guerre .

Lenoir received a travel grant in 1911. At the Salon of the Société des Artistes Français he won the third class medal in 1905, the second class medal in 1907 and the gold medal in 1928. He took part in the colonial exhibition in Marseille in 1922, the exhibitions in Copenhagen 1909, Brussels International - 1910 , New York 1910, International Exhibition of Contemporary Art Rome 1911, World Exhibition 1913 Gent , Brussels 1924 and Tokyo 1928. Lenoir belonged to the artist group La Stèle , which was founded by the Éditeur d'art (art publisher) and sculptor Arthur Goldscheider in the early 1920s with representatives of Art Deco Work Goldscheider exhibited in 1925 at the Paris Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et industriels modern . Here Lenoir was honored with a Diplôme d'honneur . Some of his designs were implemented by the porcelain factory in Sèvres . Other works went to the Musée du Luxembourg and Petit Palais Dijon, as well as museums in Rennes, Lunéville, New York, Brussels and others.

He was appointed director of the École des beaux-arts in Rennes and in 1931 was accepted as a knight in the Legion of Honor . He was married to the painter Mathilde Berthe Thorel. After his death on September 9, 1953, Pierre Lenoir was buried in the grave of the Thorel family in the Père-Lachaise cemetery.
