André Téchiné's thriller Barocco was the big favorite of the evening with nine nominations. But the film was only able to hold its own against the competition in the three categories of Best Supporting Actress, Best Film Music and Best Cinematography, with Marie-France Pisier repeating her victory as Best Supporting Actress last year with her role in Barocco . The best film was ultimately Joseph Losey's drama Monsieur Klein , which received seven awards in the categories of Best Director and Best Production Design.
