François de Roubaix (born April 3, 1939 in Neuilly-sur-Seine , † November 21, 1975 off Tenerife ) was a French film composer .

Life

One of his most important works is the soundtrack to the film Le Samouraï (1967, Ger. The Ice Cold Angel ) by Jean-Pierre Melville . In this film, he already experimented with electronic sounds, which made him a style-defining innovator of film music in the 1970s. The soundtrack is considered a congenial implementation of the story about a killer who is hunted by his clients. The music evokes an atmosphere of darkness. He also composed the impressive, sometimes whistled music in the film Die Abenteurer (1967, director: Robert Enrico ). The main subject of Dernier domicile connu ( The Commissioner and His Decoy ) was sampled by Robbie Williams in Supreme as well as Missy Elliott and MC Solaar in All In My Grill . The 60-part television series Les oiseaux rares is also supported by de Roubaix 'soundtrack.

De Roubaix died in a diving accident off the Canary Islands in 1975 . He was the son of Paul de Roubaix .
