action

Marseille 1934: Roberto Borgo wants to prove the innocence of his friend Xavier, who is in prison for murder. He tries to infiltrate the circles of Villanova, who blamed Xavier for the murder. After a witness is shot, Roberto meets with Villanova and kills him. He removes the body with the help of the “elegant” and his cashier. From now on, Roberto takes over the business of Villanova. When a Spaniard, a friend of Villanova's, shows up, he plans to kill Roberto.

But the Spaniard is not stupid and explains that Roberto has a kind of guardian angel in the Mexican Migli. Roberto, feeling insecure, sends the cashier to the country and hands over the helm of the brothel to Xavier's sister Georgia . But there is new trouble. Colored Americans try to take over the red light district and devastate the brothels. Roberto takes them on and has a pistol duel with the men. He is injured and goes to prison.

He manages to be transferred to the prison in which Xavier is staying. Xavier has got into some trouble and is in solitary confinement. However, Roberto can get him out of solitary confinement and together they now forge an escape plan. In 1940 France entered World War II and both volunteered. However, their bill does not work out and Roberto therefore tells Georgia that she should smuggle a gun into jail for him. When the prison supplier Dubois, who smuggled the pistol piece by piece into prison without his knowledge, is arrested, the plan fails.

Migli and Georgia try to free Roberto and Xavier with the help of the Resistance , but they fail because Migli is caught at the wall and shot. When the war ends, Roberto and Xavier take the opportunity to get their sentence waived by mine removal work. During this work, Xavier loses an arm and Roberto returns with him to the red light district in Marseille. There he now works as a problem solver who protects the casino owners from attacks. He eventually forces the new owners of his previous casino to hand over the business to him. When a gang of gangsters assaults Georgia and Xavier, a fatal exchange of fire ensues. Xavier dies and Georgia is hospitalized seriously injured. Roberto has no choice but to meet with those who commissioned the robbery.
