Michel Audiard

Michel Audiard (born May 15, 1920 in Paris , † July 27, 1985 in Dourdan ) was a French screenwriter and director .

Life

Audiard worked as a writer for cinema magazines after the Second World War . In 1949, director André Hunebelle asked him if he could write an adventure film for him. Audiard said yes, wrote the screenplay for Mission in Tangier, and established himself as a screenwriter. During his career, Audiard has worked on 131 scripts. He adapted material, wrote original scripts and was considered a leading specialist in concise dialogues. In the 1970s and 1980s he was regularly involved as a screenwriter or dialogue writer in the films of the French superstar Jean-Paul Belmondo , for whom he wrote the script for the box-office hit Der Profi (1981). In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Audiard also appeared as a director, but was dissatisfied with this work.

His son Jacques Audiard is also a screenwriter and director.
