Victor Lanoux

Victor Lanoux , actually Victor Rubert Nataf, (born June 18, 1936 in Paris , † May 4, 2017 in Vaux-sur-Mer ) was a French actor .

Life

Victor Lanoux, who took part in the Algerian War, worked as a stage technician at the theater and at a Parisian film studio from 1959. He took acting lessons and performed between 1960 and 1964 together with Pierre Richard as a duo in variety shows and nightclubs. This was followed by engagements on the theater stage, 1964 to 1970 at the Théâtre National Populaire and 1972 in Villeurbanne with Roger Planchon . In addition, Lanoux was also active as a playwright.

From 1962 he worked for television. He made his feature film debut in 1964 in the film adaptation of Bert Brecht's The Unworthy Old Woman . However, it wasn't until the early 1970s that he began to take on film roles on a regular basis. He became known to the general public as Jean Gabin's son in L'Affaire Dominici (1972). Lanoux has since shown great versatility in both the dramatic and comedic fields. He played an ex-soldier who incited the philistines against foreigners in Yves Boisset's Monsieur Dupont (1974) or the leading role of the unconventional husband in Jean-Charles Tacchella's comedy Cousin, Cousin (1975), which made him internationally known. He demonstrated his range of acting as a tearful macho in Yves Roberts Monsieur on astray (1976), as a failed politician in Jean-Pierre Mocky's Y at-il un français dans la salle? (1982) and as an overzealous cop in Samuel Fuller's Thieves of the Night (1984). He broke his macho image especially in 1984 as a married homosexual commissioner who had a love affair with a young man in La Triche .

Lanoux was involved in the production companies "Les Films de la Drouette" and "Régie Enterprise Vidéo". He was in a relationship with the actress Marie-José Nat for a long time . In 1976 he was nominated for a César as both best leading actor for cousin and best supporting actor for Adieu, Bulle , but he did not receive any of the awards.

His daughter Stéphanie Lanoux (* 1972) also worked as an actress.
