The rose variety 'Molineux' (syn. 'Ausmol') is a golden yellow shrub rose that was bred by David Austin in 1994 and launched on the European market in the same year. The 'Molineux' is one of the first English roses bred by David Austin . It belongs to the rose family of the English moschata hybrids . The 'Molineux' rose variety has received awards at numerous international rose shows.

The upright rose 'Molineux' forms a low, compact shrub . The rose plant is about 60 cm to a maximum of 100 cm high and 60 to 75 cm wide.

The flowers are usually arranged in small umbels . The medium-sized, rosette-shaped flowers form up to 120 petals . The pointed, egg-shaped buds open into 7 cm large, bright golden yellow flowers. The rose variety 'Molineux' has almost thornless shoots and large, dense, medium green, leathery foliage. The rose cultivar 'Molineux' is characterized by a delicate fragrance of old roses and musk from.

This strongly remounting English rose is moderately hardy ( USDA climate zones 5b to 10b). The rose variety does not tolerate severe frost periods. The 'Molineux' thrives on well drained, humus soil in preferably sunny locations. The 'Molineux' rose variety blooms continuously from June to late autumn and is resistant to most rose diseases.

The 'Molineux' rose variety is suitable for single and group planting of flower beds , formal and cottage gardens as well as for planting pots. It is also used in floristry as a cut flower in lush, natural flower arrangements.

The 'Molineux' rose variety is found in numerous rosaries and gardens around the world, including the Auckland Regional Botanic Garden , the Denver Botanic Garden , the Howard Rose Garden , the Huntington Botanical Gardens , the Jardin Botanique de Montreal , the Volksgarten (Vienna) and the Europa-Rosarium Sangerhausen shown.

Naming

The 'Molineux' rose variety was named in honor of Sir Jack Hayward , former president of Wolverhampton Wanderers football club , after the Molineux football stadium , the favorite club of rose grower David Austin.
