Momo Kodama

Momo Kodama (* 1972 in Osaka ) is a Japanese pianist .

Life

Kodama was born in Osaka, but grew up in Europe from 1973 and attended the Paris Conservatory with her older sister Mari Kodama . She studied with Murray Perahia , András Schiff , Vera Gornostajewa and Tatjana Nikolajewa .

In 1991 she made her debut with the Berkeley Symphony Orchestra at the age of 19 as the youngest winner of the International Piano Competition in Munich . Since then she has performed with various symphony orchestras and at cultural festivals in Europe and Latin America. So far she has recorded six CDs.

Her musical partners include the violinists Christian Tetzlaff , Renaud Capuçon and Augustin Dumay , the cellists Mario Brunello , Steven Isserlis and Christian-Pierre La Marca, and the clarinetist Jörg Widmann . She also performs as a piano duo with her sister, the pianist Mari Kodama .

Her repertoire consists mainly of modern works by composers such as Tōru Takemitsu , Ichiro Nodaïra , Toshio Hosokawa , Olivier Messiaen and Jörg Widmann .
