Mona Breede

Mona Breede (born June 27, 1968 in Kiel ) is a German photo artist .

Life

After training as a photographer in Munich, Mona Breede studied photography from 1992 to 1998 at the State University of Design in Karlsruhe with Professor Thomas Struth . Since 2000 she has been involved in exhibitions in national and international museums, art associations and galleries. She had lectureships for photography at the Karlsruhe University of Design and at the Center for Applied Cultural Studies of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).

In her photographic work, Mona Breede shows people in relation to public places, mainly urban space. The people are shown in their movements and interactions and are subject to a certain choreographic rhythm. Beyond the formal, the complexity of these tableaux, a social typology is designed and social issues are touched upon, anonymity, isolation, alienation, an existential moment, both on the interpersonal level and in the relationship between people and the anonymous urban architecture surrounding them.
