Monica Gschwind

Monica Gschwind (born June 17, 1963 in the canton of Lucerne ) is a Swiss politician ( FDP ) and a member of the government of Basel .

Life

After completing compulsory schooling, Monica Gschwind attended the Theresianum Ingenbohl commercial school from 1980 to 1982 . After four years as a commercial clerk and as an auditor's assistant, she graduated as a trustee with a federal certificate in 1988 .

After completing her diploma, she worked as a mandate manager in a trust company for four years before deciding to go independent in 1993 and founding the sole proprietorship Täli-Treuhand M. Gschwind based in Hölstein .

Monica Gschwind is married, has two grown daughters and has lived in Hölstein for over 25 years. She is a passionate racing cyclist.

politics

Monica Gschwind's political career began in the executive branch of her community in Hölstein, where she was a councilor from 2000 to 2012. From 2012 to 2015 she chaired the Hölstein local council.

In the district administrator , which Gschwind has attended since 2011, Gschwind made a name for herself above all as a financial politician. As a member of the business audit commission, she caused a canton's sensation in 2012 with a critical report to the Department of Economics and Health (VGD).

In the cantonal elections in 2015, Monica Gschwind made the leap into the Basel government, where she has headed the Education, Culture and Sports Directorate (BKSD) ever since.
