Thomas Weber (born November 23, 1961 in Basel , resident in Reigoldswil , Basel-Landschaft ) is a Swiss politician ( SVP ).

Thomas Weber, dipl. Civil engineer ETH , has been a member of the government council of the Canton of Basel-Landschaft (executive) since July 2013 . He was elected in the replacement election on April 21, 2013. In the general election of the Government Council on February 8, 2015, Thomas Weber was confirmed for the 2015–2019 term of office. For the year in office from July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2017, the canton parliament elected him President of the Government Council with 81 out of 84 votes. On March 31, 2019, the electorate confirmed him as a member of the government for the 2019-2023 term of office. He heads the cantonal economics and health department and, in his capacity as a government councilor, is a member of the party leadership of SVP Baselland.

Thomas Weber chairs the organizing committee of the Swiss Wrestling and Alpine Festival in Pratteln, which will take place from August 26th to 28th, 2022 and will attract hundreds of thousands of visitors from Switzerland and the Basel region under the motto "Together with swing and heart" will bring neighboring countries closer.

From 2011 to 2013 Thomas Weber was a member of the district administrator of the canton of Basel-Landschaft and vice-president of the SVP district parliamentary group. From 2004 to 2005 he was cantonal party president.

Before joining the government, Thomas Weber headed the Zofingen branch of the Federal Roads Office FEDRO , responsible for the national road infrastructure in central and north-western Switzerland.

As a militia officer in the Swiss Army , he was active from 1981 to 2011 ( Colonel in the General Staff ).

Weber is married and has three grown sons.
