Sabine Pegoraro

Sabine Pegoraro (born March 18, 1958 in Basel ; resident in Basel and Wädenswil ) is a Swiss politician ( FDP ). From 2003 to 2019 she was a member of the Basel landscape government council and most recently headed the building and environmental protection department .

Career, professional activities

Sabine Pegoraro studied law at the University of Basel and graduated in 1982 with a licentiate . In 1987 she acquired the Solothurn advocacy patent , and in 1992 she received her doctorate. From 1987 to 2003 Pegoraro worked as a lawyer , most recently as a self-employed person. In September 2019 she joined the law firm SwissLegal Dürr + Partner, Basel, as a partner.

Political career

Sabine Pegoraro started her political career in the judiciary as a district judge in Arlesheim (1994–1997). From 1995 to 2002 she was a member of the party leadership of the FDP Baselland, in the last two years its president. From 1998 until her election to the government council in 2003, she was a member of the Basel district administrator . In 2005 she was accepted into the extended party leadership of the FDP Switzerland.

In 2003 she was elected to the government council and was confirmed in office in the elections in 2007, 2011 and 2015. From 2003 to 2011 she was the head of the Security Directorate (formerly Justice, Police and Military Directorate). From July 2011 to July 2019 she headed the building and environmental protection department. In 2007/2008 she chaired the government council of the canton of Basel-Landschaft for the first time. In 2012/2013 she was elected as the district president for the second time with very good results, and in 2017/2018 for the third time. In 2019, after 16 years in government, she did not run for elections and switched back to the law firm in September 2019.

Private

Sabine Pegoraro is married and has a grown-up son (1993). She lives in Pfeffingen .
