Isaac Reber (born August 27, 1961 in Basel ; resident in Sissach and Schangnau ) is a Swiss politician ( GPS ) and belongs to the liberal wing of the Green Party. He has been a member of the Basel-Landschaft government council since 2011. After eight years as Security Director, he has been Head of Construction Management since 2019.

Education and professional activities

Isaac Reber graduated from the University of Basel with a degree in geography and then completed a post-graduate degree in spatial planning at the ETH Zurich . After working for the Baselland construction department, he worked in the building construction and planning office of the canton of Basel-Stadt from 1997 to 2008 , and from 2003 as head of the Logis Bâle housing subsidy program . From 2009 to 2011 he was deputy managing director of Energie Zukunft Schweiz .

Political career

As a politician, Isaac Reber was a member of the Sissach municipal council from 1996 to 2001 and of the district administrator in Basel from 2001 to 2011 .

In 2007, he ran unsuccessfully at first as Councilor . In the 2011 government council elections, he achieved the fourth-best result with 28,444 votes, making him the first member of the Green Party to be elected to the cantonal government of Basel-Landschaft. Reber ousted Jörg Krähenbühl ( SVP ) from the government council; it is the first non-re-election of a previous member since 1950.

In 2014/2015 he held office for the first time as district president, currently (2019/2020) he holds the office for the second time. In 2019 Reber was re-elected with the second best result (40,000 votes). He has been Head of the Security Directorate since his election to the Government Council in 2011. He has also been the governing councilor responsible for the State Chancellery since 2018 and for the dossier of external relations and cross-border cooperation since 2015.

Mandated by the Conference of Cantonal Justice and Police Directors (KKJPD), Isaac Reber has also been President of the Program Committee for Harmonization of Police Informatics Switzerland (HPI) since 2018 and of the Swiss Crime Prevention (SKP) since 2015.

Private

Reber grew up in Sissach , is married and has two grown daughters. He is committed u. a. as a board member of the Zytglogge housing cooperative, is a member of the Sissach nature and homeland conservation work group and the Sissach chess club.
