Esther Barbara Friedli (born June 4, 1977 , resident in Escholzmatt-Marbach and Lützelflüh ) is a Swiss politician ( SVP ). She was elected to the Swiss National Council on October 20, 2019 .

biography

Friedli grew up in Worb . From 1997 to 2003 she studied political science at the University of Bern . She also took a minor in constitutional law , economics and media studies . In her youth she was a member of the CVP and was involved in the young CVP . From 2008 to 2014 she was Secretary General of the Education Department of the Canton of St. Gallen . As part of this activity, Friedli was regional secretary of the EDK -Ost (Eastern Switzerland Conference of Educational Directors) and a member of the board of the department secretaries of the EDK.

The former SVP president Toni Brunner has been her life partner since 1997 . She lives with him in Ebnat-Kappel . There she has been working in the family business of the Landgasthaus Sonne restaurant (House of Freedom) since 2017. After joining the SVP, she ran for the government council of the canton of St. Gallen in April 2016 .

It was elected with 39,540 votes in the Swiss parliamentary elections in October 2019. The political scientist invested 5,000 francs in the National Council election campaign. Friedli wants to stand up for the concerns of farmers and rural areas in the National Council.
