Claudia Friedl (born July 19, 1960 in St. Gallen ; entitled to live there ) is a Swiss politician ( SP ) and national councilor from the canton of St. Gallen .

biography

The native Austrian grew up in St. Gallen and was naturalized in 1977 . From 1976 to 1981 she completed the teachers' seminar in Rorschach. From 1982 to 1988 she studied biology at the University of Zurich . In 1996 she did her PhD in environmental science with Alexander JB Zehnder at the ETH Zurich . From 1996 to 2007 she worked as a research assistant , project manager and deputy head of department at the Federal Office for the Environment, Forests and Landscape . Since 2007 she has been the owner of an environmental consultancy.

Friedl was a member of the St. Gallen City Council (legislative branch) from 1992 to 1996. From 1996 to 2013 she was a member of the St. Gallen Cantonal Council , which she presided over in 2000/2001. From 2004 to 2012 she was President of the Social Democratic Party of the Canton of St. Gallen.

In March 2013, Friedl replaced the resigned Hildegard Fässler in the National Council .

Claudia Friedl is President of the Casafair Association .
