Marcel Dobler
Marcel René Dobler (born August 29, 1980 in Männedorf , Canton of Zurich ; resident in Appenzell ) is a Swiss entrepreneur, athlete and politician ( FDP ). He is a founding member of Digitec and was its CEO for 13 years . He is co-owner and member of the board of directors of Franz Carl Weber . He has been a member of the National Council since 2015 .
Life
Dobler completed an apprenticeship as an electronics engineer with a professional diploma . After recruit training as a military police Grenadier he started a computer science studies at the Hochschule Rapperswil . During his studies he founded the company Digitec together with Oliver Herren and Florian Teuteberg in April 2001. As Co-CEO, Dobler developed Digitec into the leading Swiss business in online consumer electronics sales. After the takeover by Migros , he ended his position as Co-CEO and left the company after 13 years. Since 2018 he has been co-owner and member of the board of directors of the toy company Franz Carl Weber AG, and in 2019 he increased his stake to 50 percent. He is also President of ICT Switzerland and a member of the board of Economiesuisse .
Dobler lives with his wife and two children in Rapperswil-Jona .
politics
In the Swiss parliamentary elections in 2015 , Dobler was elected to the National Council in the canton of St. Gallen . There he is a member of the Security Policy Commission. According to his own statements, economic policy, infrastructure, traffic, digitization and cyber security are among his core topics.
In the Swiss parliamentary elections in 2019 , Dobler ran for Council of States and again for National Council. He was re-elected as a national councilor.

- 2015/2016: Vice Swiss Champion 2-man bob St. Moritz
- 2015/2016: Swiss champion 4-man bobsleigh in St. Moritz
- 2017/2018: Swiss Champion 4-man bobsleigh in St. Moritz
Awards
In 2015, Dobler received the Best of Swiss Web Prize together with the co-founders of Digitec .
