Markus Ritter (politician)

Markus Vinzenz Ritter (born April 19, 1967 in Altstätten ; entitled to live there ) is a Swiss politician ( CVP ) and member of the National Council of the Canton of St. Gallen . Since November 2012 he has also been elected President of the Swiss Farmers' Association (SBV).
Life
Ritter is an industrial engineer (FH) and master farmer and runs a 28 hectare organic farm with dairy farming and field fruit growing .
From 1993 to 2012 Ritter was on the city council of Altstätten. He was elected to the National Council in the 2011 parliamentary elections.
Markus Ritter has been President of the St. Gallen Farmers' Association since 2005 and has been a member of the SBV Board of Directors since 2006, and was elected President on November 21, 2012. He prevailed in the fourth ballot with 245 votes against Andreas Aebi , who received 210 votes. The formal handover with entry in the commercial register took place at the end of 2012. He succeeded Hansjörg Walter and is the first organic farmer to hold this position.
Ritter is married, has three children and lives in Altstätten.
