Franz Moser-Schär

Franz Moser-Schär (born October 18, 1872 in Hitzkirch ; † May 12, 1935 there ) was a Swiss farmer, Catholic-Conservative National Councilor and agricultural association politician; from 1930 to 1935 president of the Swiss Farmers' Association (SBV).

biography

The Catholic-conservative farmer politician Moser came from a politically leading family in the Lucerne Seetal . After the compulsory education and one year teacher training college, the farmer made a rapid political career: From 1896 to 1919 he was mayor while Mayor in Hitzkirch. From 1916 to 1935 he sat as a representative of the Catholic-Conservative People's Party in the Lucerne Cantonal Parliament (Grand Council). In the parliamentary elections in 1911 he was elected as a national councilor in the national parliament, where he remained until his death.

Moser made a name for himself as a peasant politician and “peasant leader”: from 1930 to 1935 he presided over the Swiss Farmers' Association. He also worked as an agricultural advisor to the two Federal Councilors Edmund Schulthess and Rudolf Minger .

In addition to politics, Moser was also involved in the agricultural cooperative movement. a. as a board member of the Association of Agricultural Cooperatives of Central Switzerland (1896–1935), as President of the Association of Central Switzerland Milk Processing Cooperatives (1905–35) or as founder of the Lucerne Fruit Processing Cooperative in Hitzkirch (1902).

Because of the accumulation of offices, Moser was hardly able to work as a farmer himself. His farm was run by his wife and son with servants.
