Rudolf Reichling senior

Rudolf Reichling (born May 27, 1890 in Stäfa ; † October 22, 1977 there ; entitled to live in Stäfa) was a Swiss politician ( BGB ).

biography

Reichling studied agronomy and economics in Zurich and Berlin and in 1911 was a qualified agronomy engineer at the ETH Zurich . In 1917 he took over his father's vineyard in Stäfa .

In 1912 he was elected to the local council and had a seat there until 1922, before he was the local school president in Stäfa from 1925 to 1934. From 1923 to 1943 he was a cantonal councilor in the canton of Zurich for the Zurich farmers' party , where he was president of the cantonal council in 1932/33.

In 1929 he was elected to the National Council and had a seat there in the parliamentary group of the BGB. In 1935/36, he was President of the National Council . From 1926 to 1944 he was President of the Zurich Farmers' Party, from 1937 to 1945 President of the Farmers, Trade and Citizens' Party and from 1949 to 1961 President of the Swiss Farmers' Association .

As a farmer's representative, he was involved in the 1951 Agriculture Act, the Milk Decree, the Wine Statute, the Slaughter Cattle Ordinance and the cattle insurance. In 1959 he received an honorary doctorate from the University of Zurich for his services in building the new veterinary and medical faculty.
