Monika Böttcher (born January 25, 1968 in Mannheim ) is a German politician with no party and has been the mayor of the city of Maintal since January 2016 .

Life

Böttcher graduated from the Elisabeth-Gymnasium in 1987 . From 1988 she studied political science and sociology at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . In 1989 she moved to the Philipps University of Marburg and also studied media studies and art history. In 1995 she completed her studies with a Magister Artium in Political Science. Böttcher now worked for the public relations agency Burson-Marsteller in Frankfurt am Main , first as a trainee , then as a consultant . In 1998 she started her own business as a consultant.

On September 13, 2015, she ran for the office of mayor of Maintal. After none of the applicants could achieve the necessary majority of votes, Böttcher was elected mayor of Maintal on September 27, 2015 in a runoff election with 51.8% of the votes cast, replacing the previous incumbent Erhard Rohrbach ( CDU ), who did not had run more. Her inauguration took place in January 2016. Even before her election as mayor, Böttcher had been active as a voluntary child representative for the city of Maintal since 2009.

Böttcher is the mother of two sons.
