Monika Stadler (born February 19, 1963 in Linz ) is an Austrian harpist , composer , lecturer, producer and vocalist.
The musician lives temporarily in Vienna , temporarily near Northampton , Great Britain.

education

Monika Stadler began to learn the harp at the age of 12 - first folk harp with Berta Höller, one year later concert harp at the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz . From 1982 she studied the harp concert at the University of Music and Performing Arts , Vienna, with Adelheid Blovsky-Miller . During her studies she played with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and the Vienna State Opera Orchestra and was also a member of the Carinthian Summer ensemble .

In 1990 Stadler graduated with honors. In 1991/92 she received a scholarship to study in the USA. BMUKK scholarships made it possible to study with Deborah Henson-Conant , jazz harp, with jazz bassist David Clark ( Berklee College of Music , Boston) and with David Darling , free improvisation, also in the USA.

Appearances

From 1993 Monika Stadler was on tour with only her own projects in almost all European countries, as well as in Israel, Morocco, Algeria, the USA, Canada, Japan and Vietnam. She has made guest appearances at the most important harp festivals:

Stadler's “special love” applies to solo performances, duo and trio projects. Her duo partners include u. a. Wayne Darling / double bass and waterphone, Stefan Heckel / accordion, Franz Schmuck / percussion, Diana Grubsic / harp and Veronica Hvalic / piano. However, she also performed with Kurt Edlmair / clarinet, Richard Oesterreicher / harmonica, Jon Sass / tuba, Heinrich von Kalnein / sax, Sandor Rigo / sax, Peter Ratzenbeck / guitar and Reinhard Ziegerhofer / double bass and the Reform Art Unit .
In addition, there were and are projects in collaboration with artists from other genres, such as literature with Erika Pluhar , or Elisabeth Orth , and with Dagmar Schwarz , dance and painting.
