Richard Oesterreicher (wrongly often Austrian ; born November 10, 1932 in Vienna ) is an Austrian conductor and jazz musician ( guitar , trombone , harmonica , vocals ).

Live and act

Richard Oesterreicher is the son of a music teacher. He first studied with his father and from 1947 began an apprenticeship as a typesetter, alongside which he studied guitar and piano at the Vienna Conservatory . He completed his studies with Walter Heidrich in Vienna. From 1958 to 1967 he worked as a professional musician with his own combo, then as a studio guitarist, arranger and musician in the ORF entertainment orchestra .

In 1972 Oesterreicher became a member of the ORF Big Band , whose musical direction he took over in 1976. During this time he also composed signations for the ORF shows Wer A says , Champion , O du mein Österreich and Countdown . He also wrote the soccer songs Immer wieder Österreich and Österreichischer Fußballmarsch (We're going to Argentina) , which he recorded for Ariola .

He also conducted the following Austrian contributions to the Eurovision Song Contest :

In 1981 he founded the Richard Oesterreicher Big Band , which worked in television shows and record productions with artists such as Udo Jürgens , Peter Alexander , Bill Ramsey , Caterina Valente , Kurt Sowinetz , José Carreras , Edita Gruberová , Marianne Mendt and Karin Bachner .

Oesterreicher also gained fame as a jazz soloist on guitar or harmonica, who performed with musicians such as Art Farmer ( Gentle Eyes ), Wayne Darling , Herb Ellis , Frank Mantooth , Peter Herbolzheimer , Fritz Pauer , Albert Mair ( Wiener Standards: Wiener Lied Meets Jazz ), Erich Kleinschuster , Paul Kuhn , Toni Stricker , Karl Hodina , Viktor Gernot and Gina Schwarz performed.
