Monika Wagner (art historian)

Monika Wagner (* 1944 in Herborn Hesse ) is a German art historian and retired high school teacher .

Career

Monika Wagner studied painting at the Kunsthochschule Kassel , then art history, literary studies and archeology at the University of Hamburg and the University of London .

After working at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen , she headed the Funkkolleg Moderne Kunst .

From 1987 to 2010 Wagner taught as a professor for art history at the University of Hamburg.

Since 1996 she has been in charge of the development of an archive for researching material iconography in art of the 20th century, especially art after 1945.
