Monika Zeiner
Monika Zeiner (born May 10, 1971 in Würzburg ) is a German author and singer.
Career
Zeiner graduated from the Matthias Grünewald High School in Tauberbischofsheim . She studied Romance studies and theater studies in Berlin and Naples and graduated in 2004 from the Free University of Berlin with a doctorate on the importance of melancholy for the discourse change in the Scuola Siciliana and in the Dolce Stil Nuovo . Several radio plays come from Zeiner . In 2013 she presented her debut novel The Order of the Stars on Como . Under the stage name Mona Stinelli , she is the singer and lyricist for the Italo swing band Marinafon . Zeiner lives with two children and her partner in Berlin .
Awards
In 2007 Zeiner received a scholarship from the Jürgen Ponto Foundation's writing workshop . She received the audience award at lit.Cologne 2013 for an excerpt from her novel The Order of the Stars on Como . Her debut was also nominated for the German Book Prize 2013 (shortlist) and the Aspect Literature Prize. In 2014 she received a scholarship from the German Literature Fund, and in 2015 she received a working grant for writers from the Berlin Senate's cultural administration. In 2016 she was awarded the Comburg scholarship from the city of Schwäbisch Hall.
