The lawn sports club Braunschweig from 1928 , RSV Braunschweig for short , is a sports club from Braunschweig . The club is particularly successful in canoeing ; the RSV also has departments for table tennis , football and women's gymnastics .

history

The RSV Braunschweig was founded in 1928 as a railway sports club under the name Reichsbahn Turn- und Sportverein , after the end of the war it was re-established in 1949 under the new name RSV.

The table tennis department of the club was founded on March 1st, 1949. In 1980 the RSV women qualified as Doris Boening, Christine Hübner, Christa Hustedt, Freia Runge and Susanne Sassin as champions of the Regionalliga Nord for the promotion round to the 1st Bundesliga . The promotion to the 1st league did not succeed there, however, in the following years the RSV also played for some time in the 2nd Bundesliga.

On November 27, 1952, the canoe department of the RSV was founded, and in 1957 the club moved into its first boathouse. In 1961, 1963 and 1965 the RSV was each German team champion in the discipline of whitewater Canadians. In 2014, the RSV in Munich was the first German club champion in the freestyle discipline .
