life and work

In 1988 Henke was hired as a studio technician in Munich. In 1990 he began studying computer science and communication science at the Technical University of Berlin , but in 1992 he switched to the "Konrad Wolf" University of Film and Television in Potsdam-Babelsberg to study sound design . Henke completed this successfully in 1996 with a thesis on the real-time modeling of non-linear distortions of records .

In the mid-1990s, Robert Henke met Gerhard Behles at the TUB , which resulted in the joint project Monolake a short time later . In 1996, Cyan made her debut on Chain Reaction .

In 1999 Henke and Behles decided to start the software company Ableton with Bernd Roggendorf . Henke took part in the development of the software sequencer Ableton Live and at the same time released new records on the label Imbalance Computer Music , which has meanwhile been founded with Behles - a construction for the publication of their own music or that of close friends.

Robert Henke achieved greater popularity with his performances and multimedia installations that began around 2000, including appearances at the London Tate Modern , the Center Pompidou in Paris , the Luxembourg Mudam , the New York PS1 , the Art Gallery of New South Wales in Sydney and on the Sónar Festival in Barcelona.
