The Mont Jacques-Cartier is a mountain in the Monts Chic-Chocs , a mountain range that is assigned to the Appalachians , in the southeast of the Canadian province of Quebec .
With a height of 1268 m , it is the highest mountain in southern Québec.
The mountain is located in the eastern part of the Parc national de la Gaspésie on the Gaspésie Peninsula . It is home to the last population of Canadian forest caribou south of the Saint Lawrence River .
The summit is easy to reach via hiking trails.
