The Monte Portella is a mountain of the Gran Sasso d'Italia , a mountain group of the Apennines in Italy. It lies between the Sella di Monte Aquila (in the north-east) and the La Portella saddle , which separates it from the striking neighboring summit Pizzo Cefalone to the west . The Monte Portella thus limits the Gran Sasso d'Italia to the south.

The Monte Portella can be reached via several easy hiking trails from Campo Imperatore (parking lot and cable car station) and from there there are other tour options, for example on the Pizzo Cefalone and further towards Pizzo d'Intermesoli .

On the ridge of Monte Portella there is a hut open from June to September, the CAI , the Rifugio Duca degli Abruzzi .
