The Pizzo Cefalone is a mountain of the Gran Sasso d'Italia , a mountain group of the Apennines in Italy. The limestone summit structure rises above its steep grass slopes from the south to a height of 2533 m . Pizzo Cefalone is on hiking trail no.1 of Gran Sasso d'Italia, which leads along the southern ridge from Campo Imperatore to Lake Provvidenza . Between Monte Portella and Pizzo Cefalone lies the top of the pass “La Portella” ( 2260 m ), over which one reaches the “Campo Pericoli” basin from Assergi . To the northwest of Pizzo Cefalone rises Monte Corvo , to the north the Pizzo d'Intermesoli , to the northeast are the Corno Grande and Corno Piccolo .
