Chab (* in Beirut ; bourgeois François Chabloz ) is a Swiss DJ and music producer specializing in trance and progressive house . He used to produce under the pseudonyms Moogwai and Star .
life and career
François Chabloz was born in Beirut , but grew up in Rome until he was 17 years old. He then moved to Geneva and has lived in Switzerland ever since.
Chabloz began producing in 1999 as Moogwai on the music label Platipus Records . Under this pseudonym he produced two singles in 2000 and 2001, Viola and The Labyrinth , which hit the British single charts . The single Viola was released together with a remix by Armin van Buuren and became a big club hit.
After Viola , Chabloz concentrated on his project Chab for a year, under which he released his first single Get My Love in 2000 . One of his best known productions as Chab was Closer to Me , a collaboration with JD Davis . Chab is also a sought-after remixer. He edited songs by Nelly Furtado , Moonbootica , Röyksopp , Gorillaz and Depeche Mode, among others .
In 2005 the two debut albums 5 Wishes & More (as Moogwai) and Dub, Edits And Whiskey-Coke (as Chab) were released. In addition to the previous singles, the Moogwai album also contained four new tracks: The Nord Song , Anagram , 1AD and the title track along with a new, previously unreleased Tektonik remix of his club hit Viola .
