Moonlight Agony is a Swedish power and progressive metal band from Kungsbacka that was formed in 1999.

history

The band was founded in 1999 by guitarist and singer Karl Landin and drummer Robert Willstedt. A short time later bassist Christofer Starnefalk joined them and they rehearsed together by playing songs from Helloween and Blind Guardian . In 2000 the band was looking for a second guitarist and found him in Andreas Lindvall. A short time later, keyboardist Martin Mellström joined them. The first appearance followed in autumn 2000. Later that year, singer Christian Karlzon joined the band, so Landin could now fully concentrate on the job of guitarist, and a second gig was held. In 2001 the band developed their first songs of their own, so the band recorded their first demo called Dust , which was followed by a second, self-titled demo later that year. In May the band held one last concert before the line-up of the band changed. Robert Willstedt left the band in June to do his military service, while Landin went to Oskarshamn to study music. Andreas Lindvall left the band in October. As a result, activity largely came to a standstill before Willstedt returned from military service in May 2002 and Landin finished his studies. Together they wrote new material and the band went to the studio from summer to autumn to record a third demo. At the beginning of autumn Christian Karlzon left the band, so Landin took over the vocals again during the recordings. In the same year guitarist Rikard Petersson and singer Simon Hermansson joined the band. After the vocal track was re-recorded with Hermansson towards the end of the year, the demo was released that same year.

In May 2003 the band separated again from Simon Hermansson. In July the band reached a management contract with Intromental Management . Towards the end of summer, the band began recording their debut album. Singer Chitral Somapala was cast through intromental management . The vocal track was recorded in the Division One studio in the fall and winter . In addition, the album was mixed there. The producer was Tom Englund , singer and guitarist for Evergrey . In 2004, the debut album Echoes of a Nightmare was released on Massacre Records , King Records and Nightmare Records , divided according to the regions of the release. This was followed by various appearances, including a small tour through Denmark as the opening act for Doro . In 2005 the band wrote new material and Somapala left the band towards the end of the year and was replaced by David Åkesson. In early 2006, the band recorded their second album, Silent Waters , which was released towards the end of the summer. Then bassist Christofer Starnefalk left the band and was replaced by Christer "Zigge" Pedersen. As a studio technician, Pedersen was involved in mixing all of the band's previously released records. The album was released on Dockyard 1 in 2007 .

style

The band plays progressive power metal and is used as a mixture of Helloween and Symphony X described.
