Moradelli is a company that produces perforated and embossed sheets . It is run by family members in the seventh generation.
history
The Moradelli family originally comes from Trento , where Andreas Moradelli lived as a master shoemaker in 1750 . His son Andreas emigrated to Munich in 1790 at the age of 22 . He was a locksmith and settled in Schwabing . In 1794 he became a master craftsman and member of the Munich locksmiths' cooperative. He was buried in the old northern cemetery in Munich. The company was later taken over by his son Karl Moradelli, who in 1838 acquired the later so-called Moradellihaus , a renaissance building at Hochbrückenstrasse 8 in Munich's old town . Karl Moradelli's sons Carl, Joseph and Alois also joined the company.
Carl Moradelli was particularly successful: He was appointed royal Bavarian locksmith by Ludwig II , just as Andreas and Karl Moradelli had been purveyors to the court . Carl Moradelli's works include furnishings from the castles Neuschwanstein , Herrenchiemsee and Linderhof . This also included the mechanics of the Tischlein-deck-dich in Herrenchiemsee. In 1899 he withdrew from the business and left the management to his brother Alois. While Carl Moradelli was best known for his artful work, Alois Moradelli tended to focus on products that could be industrially manufactured. This included, for example, furnace cladding.
In 1890 the company moved to a new domicile near Goetheplatz in Munich and in 1896 Alois Anton Moradelli took over management. In 1898 a Karl Moradelli from the Moradelli family began studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. In 1907 a 50-ton strip press was purchased and the production of perforated sheets began. Alois Anton Moradelli died young and his daughter Luise took over the management of the company around 1925. She was able to save the company on Black Friday of 1929.
The company buildings were badly damaged in the Second World War . In the course of the reconstruction, additional perforating presses were installed.
In 1976, under Ludwig Sauer, another change of location followed. Moradelli moved to Kirchheim, where there was enough space for the company to expand and there was also a motorway connection. The production of embossed sheet metal soon increased in volume. Under Thomas Sauer, the production hall was expanded in 1990 and a new administration building was then built. In 1999 the company's premises were enlarged.
The company is now in the seventh generation of the descendants of Andreas Moradelli and produces perforated and embossed sheets as well as products with punched holes.
Known products
Karl Moradelli created a tea pavilion for the courtyard of the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten in 1858 . This pavilion has not been preserved; it was removed along with the inner courtyard under Adolf Obermayer to make way for the Art Nouveau atrium that still exists today .
During his time as a court blacksmith, Moradelli not only equipped castles of the Wittelsbach family with metal products, but also the Luitpold saloon steamer . The aluminum panels that Audi uses to uniformly design its sales outlets also come from Moradelli.
