history
The city of Moraine originally arose on parts of the Van Buren Township and the Miami Township . In November 1952, the Van Buren Township became the municipality of Kettering with a population of around 25,000. After a short time as part of Kettering, the citizens in the west of the community voted for a detachment and founded the new Moraine Township on February 3, 1953. This township became a separate community on July 23, 1957 through a vote. After parts of the Miami Township had been incorporated twice, the population of Moraine reached 5465 eight years after the parish was founded. On May 12, 1965, the village was elevated to a city. Because of the many businesses, up to 20,000 people can be found in the city during the day.
