The Morchelbecherlinge ( Disciotis ) or Flatschmorelte are a genus of the hose mushrooms from the family of the morel relatives ( Morchellaceae ).

features

The fruiting bodies of the Morel Cuplings are very short-stalked, very large apothecaries , which are initially cup-shaped or bowl-shaped, but soon spread out flat on the mostly clayey soil as large as the palm of a hand and then have at most a low, curved edge. The upper side of the rather fragile fruiting bodies is yellowish to darker matt brown, their underside light beige. Bulges extend from the navel above the exit point and spread outwards. There are no sterile ribs as found on the "caps" of the related genus of morels .

When smelled up close, the flat smokers give off a distinct smell of chlorine. This is where the third name of this unusual spring mushroom comes from: chlorine beakers. This perhaps irritating scent disappears immediately after brief cooking. In terms of their good taste and digestibility, connoisseurs rate the morel cups higher than the actual morels, also because they lack their tough stems.

The asci contain eight broad, ellipsoidal , smooth spores with small droplets at the ends.

ecology

The morel cuplings are saprobiontic inhabitants of loose soils, they occur in bushes and riparian forests .
