Mord in Pacot (Original title: Meurtre à Pacot , TV title: Mord in Haiti ) is a film by Raoul Peck . It premiered at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival and was first broadcast in German on Arte on June 25, 2015 . The film was subsequently released in the cinema on September 17, 2015.

After the devastating earthquake in January 2010, Haiti's infrastructure was largely devastated. The villa of a wealthy couple in Pacot, Port-au-Prince has also suffered serious damage. If it is not renovated immediately, it is threatened with demolition. In order to raise funds for the renovation, they rent the last intact room to the French disaster relief worker Alex, while they are accommodated on the servants' floor themselves. Shortly afterwards, Alex starts a passionate affair with the 17-year-old local Andrémise, who hopes for a better future through contact with foreigners. In the course of their relationship, the homeowners are also confronted for the first time in their lives with the rigid contradictions of Haitian society.

The film service judges that the “intense, atmospherically compelling chamber play turns the social hierarchy on its head, which does not result in a new togetherness, but rather increasing tensions that are discharged in an archaic act of violence”. The "exemplary film reminiscent of a Brechtian experimental arrangement stages the failure of the involuntary experiment with great actors as a wasted social opportunity".
