Pascal Bonitzer (born February 1, 1946 in Paris ) is a French screenwriter and film director .

Life

Bonitzer was initially an editor and critic for Les Cahiers du cinéma magazine . He wrote his first screenplay in 1976 when he came across the historic Pierre Rivière case . He then co-authored Jacques Rivette several times . In 1996 he won the Prix ​​Jean Vigo for his first feature film Encore - Immer wieder die Frauen ... , which was also nominated for the French César Film Prize in 1997 as the best debut film.

Bonitzer and the French screenwriter and film director Sophie Fillières are the parents of actress Agathe Bonitzer .
