Josée Dayan

Josée Dayan (born October 6, 1943 in Toulouse , France ) is a French film director .

Life

Josée Dagnant grew up in Algiers , Algeria , where her father, who came from a Jewish family from Algeria, worked as a television director and her grandmother owned a cinema. Since 1974 she has directed, mainly for TV films. In 1979 she directed a documentary about Simone de Beauvoir . Her most successful works are the TV miniseries about the Count of Monte Christo from 1998 with Gérard Depardieu in the lead role and the work Les Misérables - Prisoners of Fate (2000), in which Depardieu also played the lead role. Her last big success so far was dangerous love affairs with Catherine Deneuve and Nastassja Kinski in the leading roles.
