The red wine variety Moreto is an autochthonous variety from Portugal.
distribution
It is recommended to grow them in the Beira Interior Sul , Beira Interior Norte and Alentejo regions . It is also approved in the Ribatejo , Oeste and Algarve regions . The area under vines in Portugal was around 2,499 ha at the beginning of the 1990s, but fell back to just 1,600 ha at the beginning of the 21st century.
Properties, wine
The late-ripening variety is extremely vigorous and high-yielding. The wines made from it are pleasant and have a rather neutral aroma and low acid character.
