Morgan Geist (* 20th century in New Jersey ) is an American music producer and DJ in the field of house and nu- disco . He also published under the pseudonyms Storm Queen, Faumgeist, Ghee, Jersey Devil Social Club, Magic Tim and Unrhythm Trax.

Life

Morgan Geist grew up in Wayne, New Jersey and then studied at Oberlin College in Ohio . His first 12 " release appeared in 1994 on Dan Curtin 's Metamorphic label . He later founded the Environ label , which released his first album in 1997.

Together with producer Darshan Jesrani , Geist forms the music project Metro Area . Inspired by the show on the New York station KISS-FM with 12 Days of KISSmas , they produced the track Atmospherique . In 1999 they released their first EP together under the label Environ. In 2002 the album of the same name, Metro Area , was released, which contains all previous tracks plus four new titles. By mixing classic with modern electronic disco rhythms, the album received a lot of attention. Finally, it was voted one of the best albums of 2002 by Intro magazine, among others .

He created remixes for artists such as The Rapture , UNKLE , Erlend Øye and Franz Ferdinand . In September 2008 the LP Double Night Time was released on his Environ label , on which the two guest singers Kelley Polar and Jeremy Greenspan from the Junior Boys were involved in the production.

Under the name Storm Queen he released the track Look Right Through in 2010 with Damon C. Scott as the singer. With It Goes On and Let's Make Mistakes , two more pieces in this constellation were released by Environ in the following years . In 2012 Look Right Through was released on Defected along with two 12 "EPs with remixes, including a remix by DJ MK . This reached number 1 on the Top 10 Shazam New Release Chart and was featured by Pete Tong in his program on the BBC Taken from Radio 1. After being released as a single on November 3, 2013, the track debuted at # 1 in the UK UK Top 40 .
