description
Shortly before the 1585 Broadway construction began in Duffy Square in 1989 , David S. Solomon signed a 20-year contract with Proskauer Rose for 33,900 square meters . The contract was a milestone for the market and Manhattan , so many more skyscrapers were built in Manhattan in the following years. The building was completed in 1990 and opened a year later.
It is used as an office for office clerks .
In the film Down 2 Earth , a hapless office clerk leaps to his death from 1585 Broadway .
Morgan Stanley bought the building for $ 176 million in August 1993 and moved in two years later. The building is currently their headquarters.
