Morgan Wallen
Morgan Wallen (born May 13, 1993 in Sneedville, Hancock County , Tennessee , United States ) is an American country singer and songwriter .
Life
Wallen grew up near Knoxville . His father was a pastor and his mother a teacher. Morgan developed a keen interest in music from a young age; he started singing in church when he was three and began playing the violin when he was five. Wallen later learned to play the piano and guitar, but in high school his passion was baseball and pitching for the Gibbs High School team in Corryton, Tennessee. Wallen was good enough and received offers for baseball scholarships. But in his senior year, an elbow injury ended his days as a baseball player. After that, he focused on his music career.
In February 2014 Wallen took part in the vocal casting show The Voice , in which he sang the song Collide by Howie Day . The Voice gave Wallen nationwide notoriety, but it also helped him find a music partner. Sergio Sánchez of the band Atom Smash was vocal coach on the show, and the two began writing songs together that matched Wallen's country voice and rock and roll attitude. Wallen moved to Nashville , where he and Sánchez formed a short-lived band, Morgan Wallen & Them Shadows.
In Nashville, Wallen worked with a manager and an agent and signed a publishing contract with Big Loud Shirt Music. Big Loud Music gave Wallen the opportunity to work as a solo artist. In 2016 Wallen released the single The Way I Talk and an EP titled. Wallen performed this song on Jimmy Kimmel Live . He returned in 2017 and worked with Florida Georgia Line on the single Up Down , which made the top ten on the country singles chart and won a gold record . The song became the leadoff track on Wallen's first album If I Know Me , which was released in April 2018.
He was the opening act for Luke Bryan and Jake Owen .
