Moritz Baerwald

Moritz Baerwald (born December 3, 1860 in Thorn , † December 26, 1919 in Berlin ) was a German politician ( FVP , DDP ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school in Thorn , Baerwald, who was of Jewish faith, studied law and political science in Heidelberg , Leipzig and Berlin from 1879 to 1882 . In Berlin he joined the Free Scientific Association . After the second state examination, he settled as a lawyer in Bromberg in 1887 , where he was also appointed notary in 1908 . From 1902 he was a board member of the Bar Association for the Poznan Higher Regional Court .

Political party

During the Empire, Baerwald belonged to the Progressive People's Party . In 1918 he participated in the founding of the DDP .

MP

Baerwald had been an honorary councilor in Poznan since 1902 . From 1912 to 1918 he was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives , in which he represented the constituency of Bromberg 5 (Mogilno - Wongrowitz - Znin). In the elections on January 19, 1919 , he was elected to the Weimar National Assembly, of which he was a member until his death.
