Moritz Bauer (born January 25, 1992 in Winterthur ) is an Austrian - Swiss football player .

Career

society

Bauer started his career at SC Veltheim . In 2004 he moved to the Grasshopper Club Zurich . In 2006 he joined FC Winterthur . In September 2009 he made his debut for the Winterthur U-21 team in the first division , which was still the third highest division in Switzerland at the time.

For the 2010/11 season he returned to the Grasshopper Club Zurich, where he joined the U-21 team. He made his professional debut in the Super League in August 2011 when he started against BSC Young Boys on matchday five of the 2011/12 season. At the end of the season he had 16 appearances in the top Swiss league.

In the following season, Bauer completed 13 games in the Super League. In the following seasons he also tinged between the bench and the starting line-up. In the 2015/16 season he was finally able to prevail; Bauer completed 33 league games for Zurich.

For the 2016/17 season, Bauer moved to Russia to Rubin Kazan .

In January 2018 he moved to Stoke City in England , where he received a contract valid until June 2022. With Stoke, he was relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2017/18 season . In the 2018/19 season he only made eight appearances in the championship .

In August 2019 he moved to Scotland on loan to Celtic Glasgow . By the end of the season, he came to nine appearances for Celtic in the Scottish Premiership . After the loan ended, he returned to Stoke.

National team

Bauer played a game for the Swiss U-19 national team against Romania in November 2010 . In June 2013 he made his debut against Sweden for Switzerland's U-21 team .

In August 2017, Bauer was appointed to the Austrian national team for the first time . He made his debut for the Austrian national team on September 5, 2017, when he was in the starting line-up in the World Cup qualifier against Georgia .
